Description:
My name is Dr. Thomas Cristello, I am a New York City Chiropractor and I have been practicing in Manhattan since April, 2001. My health training started in 1979 when I began my undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook as a Psychology major. Upon graduation, I shifted gears and pursued a very rewarding career as a Pre-school Teacher for about 10 years. Then in 1991 I went back to the health professions. Rather than to continue the study of the mind, I decided to examine the body. It was then that I started my studies at The Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in Manhattan to become a Massage Therapist. Upon graduation I began a successful 10-year career as a Massage Therapist both as an employee at several spas/gyms, and as a sole proprietor of my own practice. My hands-on career taught me a great deal about the body. My clients greatly benefited from the work I did. However, there were still many who only had limited success with the soft tissue work. I often found myself referring clients to Chiropractors. This limit to what I was able to do furthered my interest in continuing my education.
My previous experience as a Chiropractic patient and my experiences as a Massage Therapist propelled me onward. I then began the exhaustive training required to become a Chiropractor. I had to take a full 2 1/2 years of pre-requisites (on top of my Bachelors degree) in order to qualify for a Chiropractic school admission. Then it was 4 more years of intensive studies, coupled with an internship, and finally graduating with honors (Summa Cum Laude) in March 2001, just a few months before my 40th birthday.
Upon graduation from Life Chiropractic College West, in Hayward California, I returned to New York, where I worked as an Associate Doctor, improving my skills. Then, on September 30, 2002, my 41st birthday, I opened my own Chiropractic Practice in Manhattan. It has been one of the most rewarding accomplishments of my life! I look forward to serving the community for a very long time, and delivering the highest quality healthcare that I am able
