We are back and neck pain specialists at Longinotti Chiropractic Center, and realize that balance is important. Imbalances occur in the bones of the spine (the vertebrae), which become misaligned or subluxated, placing pressure on the spinal cord. Irritation of the spinal cord interferes with nerve impulses, which control all the actions of the body.
Imbalances also occur in the soft tissues. Stress, injury or illness may cause muscles to contract, which will stretch and tighten tendons and ligaments. The contraction and tightness compress the nerve pathways, impede circulation, restrict mobility and slow healing.
